Check out this years Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the Botanical Garden in New York City, Oct 6 – Oct 31, 2012.

Experience the thrills and chills of the season with a garden full of intricately carved pumpkin sculptures, bugs, bats, parties, and parades. On October 20–21, watch master carver Ray Villafane of Food Network fame transform humongous pumpkins into zombies and other unearthly creatures.

When boys are playing with dolls, it’s probably because they have their army men protecting those dolls from a zombie attack. What does one do when their kids don’t have proper zombies to play with? Well they first turn to the internet to find some, but when Shawn did just that back in 2010, he wasn’t happy with cute-sie zombie toys he did find. In the entrepreneurial spirit he set out to develop his own Box O Zombies.

With the development of a great product, Shawn found  a healthy “living” community of  zombie fans who respond well to the ghouly look of these figures. He stopped by the Pixeldom live podcasting booth at C2E2 with a Box O Zombies and we got to chat about the product. You can see the video here: Box O Zombies

One of the greatest parts of these little zombie men, is the detail that is in them. And it wasn’t until later I found out these figures were also paintable. A great find for attendees of varied interests, many of which you’re bound to find at a comic book convention. The Zombies come in a box of 6 figures. Each zombie was crafted with a vision of a specific character. There is the Principle, the Lunch Lady, the Nurse, the Hipster, the School Girl and the Crawler. Check out the webcomic on YouTube for the back story, more episodes coming soon!
